The TexVET project aims to modernize Uzbekistan’s vocational education and training (VET) system, aligning educational outcomes with labor market needs to enhance youth skills and employability, particularly within the textile sector. The initiative also focuses on establishing Sector Skills Councils (SSCs) and promoting gender-sensitive vocational guidance to ensure equal career opportunities for all students.
Our team contributed to the project by conducting a needs assessment of Uzbekistan’s vocational guidance system, identifying key areas for improvement. Based on this assessment, we helped develop a plan to implement gender-sensitive career planning measures, working in collaboration with government ministries, educational institutions, and industry partners.
Additionally, we supported the development of training programs for teachers and career counselors, helping them provide effective career guidance to students. We also helped facilitate cooperation between key stakeholders, including the Ministry of Higher Education, the Ministry for Preschool and School Education, and the Textile Association UZTEXTILPROM.
Throughout the project, we worked alongside other consultants, Integration/Ekvita LLC, to contribute to the broader efforts of improving vocational education and supporting the long-term economic development of Uzbekistan. The project is expected to conclude in 2025, with lasting impacts on the country’s vocational education system and the employability of its youth.
