The “Enhancing Economic Opportunities for Rural Women” (EEOFRW) project, overseen by Uzbekistan’s State Committee for Family and Women and funded by the World Bank’s Japan Social Development Fund (US$ 2.73 million), focuses on empowering rural women in Ferghana and Jizzakh regions. Drawing from global evidence, the project emphasizes the combination of skill development, gender equality reinforcement, and financial strategies to bolster women’s entrepreneurial outcomes. EEOFRW’s approach is hands-on, offering a mix of services to kindle economic activity, with the aim of creating a replicable model. The project is segmented into three components: Women’s Livelihood Group formation, business development support, and project oversight. Working in tandem with local stakeholders, the initiative aims to mobilize communities, nurture Women’s Livelihood Groups, and connect them with essential resources to foster sustainable enterprises.
