
The overall objective of the BOOST project was to strengthen the capacity of business intermediary organizations (BIOs) to provide energy efficiency services, as well as product quality and standards relevant to the growth of MSMEs, job and start-up creation in Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan. The project had two specific goals: to create a favorable business environment and to improve the professional level of entrepreneurs and job seekers. In this way, BOOST encourages the development of the private sector, with a particular focus on the textile and agro-industrial sectors, as well as the food industry sector.
Specific objectives included the following:
• Enhancing business enabling environment;
• Increasing professional capacity of entrepreneurs and job seekers;
Outputs:
1) Business Intermediary Organizations are capacitated and advanced to advocate for their members` interest and to offer services specifically related to energy efficiency as well as standards and quality for products in agri-business & food processing and textile sectors.
2) Entrepreneurs (members and non-members) are capacitated and enterprises enhanced with regard to financial management and equipped with skills for energy efficiency as well as standards and quality for products focusing on the agri-business & food processing and textile sector.
3) Job seekers in Uzbekistan and Kyrgyzstan are trained and capacitated on entrepreneurship, financial literacy and management.
Main project components were: Public-Private Dialogue (PPD), Access to Finance, Access to Markets, Entrepreneurship, Energy Efficiency and Quality Management.
